WHAT'S UP CONTRIBUTES TO RECESSION SUMMIT
Leading experts on children's issues gathered in Auckland on 16th September for a meeting on the effects of the recession on children in New Zealand organised by Every Child Counts. What's Up was represented at this meeting by Executive Director Grant Taylor, who contributed specifically in the area of family violence. At the end of the day, the meeting handed a plan of action containing 42 recommendations to Minister of Housing, Hon Phil Heatley.

MASSEY UNIVERSITY RESEARCHER SEEKS TEENAGERS TO HELP WITH STUDY OF EMOTION
Massey University Clinical Psychology student Anna Reynolds is seeking teenagers to help her with a study to increase our understanding of how negative feelings arise in teenage minds.

0800WHATSUP has been running a survey on children's opinions on parents who use corporal punishment. A report on the first 1,677 responses was published by Barnardos New Zealand in June. An updated reported on more than 7,000 responses is now available. It includes an analysis of what children say about the issues, as well as a tally of their votes.
